Fine dining is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Canada. To be honest, for a long time I was convinced that there was nothing special to try in the country in terms of gastronomy, except for burgers and French fries.
But after living here for some time, I discovered an unexpected and delicious side of Canadian cuisine. Each province has its own traditional dish, for example, fried young fern shoots (Sauteed Fiddleheads) are very popular in the eastern part of the country, and in Quebec they make ice cream in winter by mixing snow and maple syrup.
In large cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal or Calgary you can find restaurants for every taste and budget: from luxurious establishments with fine dining and Michelin stars to unusual places specializing in a particular dish. All those with a sweet tooth (like me) should definitely visit The Rolling Pin cafe in Toronto, which serves the most delicious cinnamon rolls in all of Ontario.
