Larochet in abundance pleases with the architecture of the Middle Ages
Not only a riot of greenery gives a special charm to the Laroshet. The architecture of the town is one of its main attractions. Many buildings have been preserved in the village since the 12th century. They are contemporaries of a majestic castle at the top of the hill. Initially, Larot was designed as a fortress. Around it were located in antiquity the house of ordinary people. To this day, many of them have survived in its original form. The architecture of residential buildings and the castle was distinguished by aristocracy.
The heyday of the village fell on the XIV century. Then the possession of the castle was divided by several noble clans. Around the fortress, the mansions of the nobility were built. Alas, only their ruins have survived to this day. But even the remains of the walls look emphasized aristocratic. There is little left from the castle on the hill. However, today the fortress is restored, reconstructed. Independent tourists can visit several open halls-museums.
