Natural and historical attractions Guanacastes
Santa Rosa National Park is interesting not only to animals and plant world, but also by exhibits dedicated to historical events. The house of the former Somosa dictator is open for visitors. You can inspect samples of military equipment from the war with the United States for independence and exposition devoted to the events.
A special place among natural attractions is occupied by the Monteverde Park. It is located high above sea level and therefore is always shrouded in a foggy haze. Rare species of birds and animals live here. In order not to break their peace, tourists’ access to the reserve is limited. Among the four hundred species of birds inhabiting the reserve, Ketzal, which was listed in the Red Book, is especially interesting, a symbol of South America, which was worshiped by the Mayans and Aztecs.
